The Tester Utilization Tracking of the Teradyne or HP Tester is done through tapping the signal between the communication lines of these testers with a handler that is attached.

Since the communication signal is streaming inward at the flow rate of 96 Kbps, the signal must be process at high speed to pickup the bin detail to distinguish between the good yield and the reject bins.

The testing time and loading time will be time-stamped immediately when the handler issue the command to request the testers to pick up the unit to conduct the test. The system will be able to capture up to 8 sites per test cycle. Each test cycle can be calculated up to the accuracy of 1/100 seconds. For testers that can support dual-head, the system can also capture the waiting time of one handler while waiting for the other handler to finished its turn of test.

The data can later be analyzed to provide information of the following:

1.  Through Put Time
     - Indexing time (duration of the Tester while waiting for the handler to
       request for testing)
     - Testing time (duration of the Test cycle)
     - Waiting time (duration of the Handler while waiting for the other
       handler to finish the test)

2.  Site Information
     - Unutilized site – site which is disable whether manually or by Load
       Board program
     - Low yield site – Site that create rejects frequently

3.  Yield Information
     - Percentage of yield of individual test site
     - Percentage of yield of each Test cycle

All the information above can be analyzed:

- by lot;
- by different type of handler used or;
- by program or load board used

that runs the production. This information can also be viewed and analyzed in real-time.
