This
Server Suite family product is designed as a host server for
the Papyrus family terminals. The function of the Terminal
Server is to eliminate the work needed for programming the
data collection terminal. With its user-friendly window-based
GUI interface, it allows you to define and configure the
rules of any data collection process without having to write
a single line of code.
By classifying the data elements into the 2 data type, Attribute
and Quantitative, and defining the definition for
each of these data elements, data that is collected by the
terminal during the data collection process will be taken
care by the server according to these rules and definitions.
Message prompting and sequence of the data collection steps
are also taken care by the server according to the table
preset into the system during the configuration.
The Terminal Server can also handle the digital and analog
input/output according to the way you configured. It allows
you to monitor and control the state of these I/O with
trigger and alert as well as masking and conditioning.
Data to and from the serial interface of the terminal will
also be managed by the host whether it is attached to the
barcode scanner, weighing scale or a printer. Flow control
or handshake of these kind of devices can be handled simply
by setting up the port at centralize host server.
When working together with the other
Server Suite
family,
the flow
of this data will be exchanged as a form of
transaction, packed as packets of message that carry the user define
transaction code. These messages are then transported and processed
by the Transaction Server that passes on the request to the
Application Server or Gateway Server to further process them
and return the result set back to the Terminal Server that
controls the Papyrus terminal.
